Does an intense season of prayer "work"?

posted Jan 7, 2012 3:04 PM by New Hope Baptist Church

Pastor [text] to Members:
Late last night & into the early morning hours, 17 men & teen boys rallied around God's throne in prayer. Beyond the sweet fellowship & strong male bonding, was the sacrifice of sleep worth it?  Does an intense season of prayer "work"? Read the following from Stephen Peakes, who was at Church until 3:00 A.M. & back at 10:00 to pray again & lead our soulwinners:
"Praise God for answered prayer!  11 souls saved & 12 new bus riders signed up!!!" Glory to God, & congratulations to our soulwinners!

Living Nativity ~ Wise Men Still Seek HIM

posted Dec 20, 2011 4:15 PM by New Hope Baptist Church

On Friday, December 16 and Sunday December 18 our church family presented our first Living Nativity with the theme, "Wise Men Still Seek HIM".  Almost sixty of our members and regular attenders had a part in this special event.

While Pastor presented the Bible message the cast and crew presented the story of the coming of Jesus Christ in the form of a man.  Each presentation was blessed by the Holy Spirit.

Praise God for this blessings!

At our Sunday night service, Pastor invited the son of our song leader to come up and assist his dad in leading the great old hymn, "Channels Only".  Pastor has noticed that he has been leading the music from his seat while his dad leads the congregation.

His mom is playing the piano and did not get to see her son working alongside his dad.  This is for mom.

Old Fashioned Sunday

posted Nov 29, 2011 5:14 PM by New Hope Baptist Church   [ updated Nov 29, 2011 5:18 PM ]

What a wonderful time we enjoyed together on Sunday.  Sunday morning the Arts & Crafts were being entered into competition and many of the folks were sporting their fashions from yesteryear.

In the afternoon there were the “Manly” arts, “Womanly” arts and children’s competitions.  Though all in good fun, New Hope does have some fierce competitors ~ Amen!

The church family joined together for an afternoon service which was very much an old time family gathering.  Our annul “Hallelujah offering” raised over $600 - what a blessing!

Here is a look back at our 2010 event...

Pastor's BIG Moment!!!

posted May 17, 2011 8:50 PM by New Hope Baptist Church   [ updated Nov 29, 2011 5:16 PM ]

Br. Buddy Blunkall invited Pastor Maricle to revive his role of singing the part of Satan in the song "The Conversation" last performed over ten years ago at Lighthouse Baptist Church of San Diego, CA.

[NOTE: Watch for video coming soon]

"The Conversation"
By The Blunkalls
& featuring Pastor Maricle

Verse One [The Blunkalls]
In the beginning, God created man
In His Own image, formed with His own hand
But Satan, old Satan, tempted man to fall
God had to find a sacrifice to die once and for all
To die once and for all

So He sent His Son to die and oh, the pain He bore
They laid Him in a borrowed tomb, the stone held fast the door
The saints all tell a story I’m about to tell
About a conversation from the pits of hell
From the pits of hell

Satan  [Pastor Maricle]
Tell me death tell me, oh death hear my plea
Do you still have Jesus, or did YOU set Him free?
This is now the first day, they’ve laid Him in the ground
Tell me oh death, tell me, can you hold Him down?
Can you hold Him down?

Death  [Br. Buddy Blunkall]
Satan, oh Satan, Satan hear me well
I promise, oh I promise that I shall not fail
That I shall not fail

Satan  [Pastor Maricle]
Tell me death; tell me, this is the second day
Do you still have Jesus, or did He get away?
Did He get away?

Death  [Br. Buddy]
Satan, oh Satan, hear me now once more
The greatest Kings and rich men have walked through my dark door
This Jesus is no different; He’s just a mortal man
And I make this vow to you; He won’t escape my hand
He won’t escape my hand

Satan  [Pastor Maricle]
Tell me death, tell me, tell me, don’t be slow
Do you still have Jesus, or did you let him go?
He’s been dead for three days, the victory is won
It’s time for celebration; we’ve overcome God’s Son
We’ve overcome God’s Son…. Ha, Ha, Ha!!!

Death  [Br. Buddy]
Satan, oh Satan, hear me what I say
This morning, oh this morning the stone was rolled away
I just couldn’t stop Him; I couldn’t hold Him down
With power, oh great power, He rose up from the ground
He rose up from the ground!

(Chorus)  [The Blunkalls]
He has risen, He has risen
Death where is your sting?
He has risen, He has risen
Proclaim Him King of Kings!
He has risen, He has risen
He lives forevermore
He has risen, He has risen
Proclaim Him Lord of Lords!
Proclaim Him Lord of Lords!

We love our moms!

God gave us a blessing for our Mother's Day in the form of  Br. Buddy Blunkall, his wife, Phyllis, and their daughter, Joanna.

Mrs. Maricle provided her potted flowers for all moms as her annual gift.  Thank you to the Basang family for supporting Mrs. Maricle to provide this special token of her love.

It was great to see all the moms getting the extra attention they so deserve.

We love you!!!

We enjoyed two morning service with the brunch and kids' candy hunt in between.  The three o'clock and six o'clock services were esecially sweet.

As a church we put out 3,300 Gospel tracts and were blessed with three five visitors.

Josep Segurado, missionary to spain, was a special blessing to our 11:00 A.M. Spanish service.

God is so good!
